Koç University Department of International Relations faculty member and director of Migration Research Center (MiReKoc) Professor Ahmet İçduygu and his team was awarded a grant of ~1.4 million euros from the European Commission Twinning Action fund for his project, entitled “Bridging the Migration and Urban Studies Nexus BROAD-ER” making it the second Twinning project to be coordinated by Koç University. Over the course of the next three years, Koç University will serve as the consortium coordinator. Within the framework of this new grant, Migration Research Center at Koc University (MiReKoc) will be matched with two leading European institutions, namely the University of Pompeu Fabra GRITIM (Interdisciplinary Research Group on Immigration) in Spain and the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. With this grant, the project will work to close the research gap within the European Research Area by building an innovative and interdisciplinary approach while also increasing Research and Innovation capacity in Türkiye at the intersection of two emergent fields, namely migration and urban studies.
