The European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS), which has been established for the quality assessment and development of higher education institutions operating in the fields of the administrative sciences and business management, has renewed its accreditation for Koç University. Koç University is the only academic institution in Türkiye to attain this accreditation.

The European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) accreditation of Koç University College of Administrative Sciences and Economics and Graduate School of Business has been renewed for a period of five years.

EQUIS is the world’s foremost international quality assessment and development accreditation. Having first attained the accreditation in 2009, Koç University College of Administrative Sciences and Economics and Graduate School of Business continues to be Türkiye’s first and only academic institution to carry the accreditation with this recent renewal.

Dean of Koç University College of Administrative Sciences and Economics and Director of Graduate School of Business Prof. Dr. Şuhnaz Yılmaz Özbağcı commented: “The renewal of our institution’s EQUIS accreditation for five years in the face of all uncertainties and challenges on the regional and global scale clearly highlights our university’s emphasis on quality and its success in education and research.”

Also the recipient of AMBA and AACSB accreditations in addition to EQUIS, Koç University continues its status as Türkiye’s first and only academic institution with the “Triple Crown” of three important accreditations in the field.

Executive Director of Koç University Graduate School of Business Nida Bektaş emphasized that the renewal of the EQUIS accreditation was an indicator of the university’s strategic focus on internationalization, in addition to validating its business model. Bektaş continued her remarks as follows: “Our graduate programs, which are continuously adapted to the rapidly changing economic environment, and which currently enable a higher quality and more innovative learning experience than ever before, also present our future alumni extraordinary career opportunities.”

The European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) evaluates institutions applying for the EQUIS accreditation with an independent accreditation board in specific aspects according to international standards. With such aspects as administration, programs, students, faculty members, research, internationalization, ethics, responsibility and sustainability in consideration, the board grants 3 or 5 years of EQUIS accreditation to higher education institutions that meet the relevant criteria. Only 207 schools from 44 countries worldwide have been granted EQUIS accreditation.

With its Executive MBA program, Koç University also ranks first in Türkiye, 30th in Europe and 55th worldwide on the Financial Times rankings. All programs currently offered by the College of Administrative Sciences and Economics rank between 200 and 250 in the Times Higher Education Rankings.
